Two days to appoint a service provider: where large businesses stand

Businesses with revenue of AED 50 million or more must appoint an accredited service provider by Friday 30 October 2026, and the 1 January 2027 go-live date has not moved.

Friday 30 October 2026 is the last day for businesses with annual revenue of AED 50 million or more to appoint an accredited e-invoicing service provider. The date was already an extension, and the go-live date for this group remains 1 January 2027.

The sources disagree on what the original appointment date was: Gulf News and Deloitte give 31 July 2026, while The National gives 1 July. Either way, no further extension has been announced, and nothing in the Ministry of Finance's 19 October amendments moves either date.

Appointing a provider is the start of the work, not the end of it. Between now and January a large business typically still needs to:

  • confirm which entities, invoice types and customer and supplier flows are in scope
  • assess gaps in its invoice data against what e-invoicing requires
  • connect its accounting or ERP system to the provider and agree an onboarding timetable
  • test end to end with real invoice scenarios well before go-live
  • plan around year-end, when invoice volumes and closing work are at their highest

Gulf News reports that only around 50 providers are accredited or pre-approved nationally, so onboarding capacity may tighten as businesses that left it late all start at once. Deloitte warns that delays can lead to rejected invoices, slower payments, closer Federal Tax Authority scrutiny, problems recovering VAT, and penalties.

Businesses below AED 50 million have more time: they appoint a provider by 31 March 2027 and go live by 1 July 2027, with government entities following on 1 October 2027.

For a UAE business in the first phase, the sensible assumption is that Friday's date is final and that the next nine weeks are for integration and testing.
